FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Awards Assembly is Tuesday at 9:15. Letters have been sent out to the families of special recipients, but all families are welcome to join us.  Class and specials awards will be given, as well as scholarship awards. Please join us for the Olympics on Wednesday and Friday. Opening ceremonies are Wednesday at 10:15. Also, on Sunday June 1st at 1:30 is our eighth grade graduation. This is not only to honor our students, some of whom have been here as many as ten years, but also their families. Our 35 eighth grade families have sent or will send over 110 students to St. Mary Magdalene. Please join us to say thank you to these families.

 

END OF SCHOOL

Closing school Mass is Monday, June 2 at 8:15.  Parents and families are welcome to join us.  There will be early dismissal on Tuesday at 1:30.  NO BUS PICKUP THAT AFTERNOON.  The school office will be open the month of June from 8:30 – 12:30.  We will reopen Monday, August 3rd.

 

OLYMPICS

The Olympic Opening Ceremonies will take place on Wednesday, May 28, at 10:30 followed by our annual Fumi Burger Cookout.  All siblings, parents, grandparents, etc. are invited to attend.  If you would like to join us for the cookout, cost is $2.00 for each person.  Students are free.  Please call the school office that you will be attending.  DO NOT send in money.  All money will be collected at the cookout.  Events for Grades K – 4 will be held that day starting at 1:00.  Events for Grades 5 – 8 will be held Friday at 1:00.

 

2008/2009 TUITION INFORMATION

The Diocese will not be informing us of any assistance awards until the end of May or first of June.  Please be patient, we will let you know as soon as possible.  If you plan to pay your tuition in full, wait until we know if you received any assistance.  If you are using the monthly payment plan, turn in your FACTS tuition payment plan forms as soon as possible.  We will need to have the forms on hand so we can calculate the correct tuition amount and mail the forms.

 

PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN

Protecting God’s Children workshop will be held June 11th from 6 – 10pm in the Church Hall.  If you have not attended a workshop and want to volunteer with the children in any regard you must attend a workshop.  To sign up go to www.virtus.org.      

 

TITLE I READING

Title I reading Young Author Visit, Grades 1 – 4, will be on Tuesday, May 27, 3:00 – 4:00.  See the green letter and RSVP sent home for details.

 

ART NEWS

Parents, please be on the lookout for your child’s Art Portfolios!  All grades K-8 will be bringing them home soon!  Thank you, Mrs. Freeman

 

FESTIVAL BASKETS

Class theme items can still be brought in for the festival baskets.   Please bring in an item for your class theme (or $2 - $5 in an envelope) to class ASAP. The class baskets are sold through silent auction at the festival. PLEASE help make SMM’s festival even more successful than last year's!   Class themes: Pre-K & Kindergarten – Gardening, 1st -- Rainy Day Activities, 2nd -- Red, White & Blue, 3rd --- OSU, 4th – Christian/Inspirational, 5th -- Pampered Pooch, 6th -- Art Supplies, 7th – OSU,  8th -- Grilling/Outdoor Chef.  Questions? MEMORIAL BRICK GARDEN

The Saint Mary Magdalene Memorial Brick Garden is a wonderful way to celebrate and honor past, present and future members of our parish and school community.  Each brick can contain three lines with each line containing thirteen characters.  The cost for each brick is $50.00 or two for $75.00.  You can obtain an order form at the display in the church gathering space, online at www.saintmarymag.org or in the school office.  Please contact Meg Cline at 853-3067 with any questions.
