SAINT MARY MAGDALENE NEWSLETTER

Issue #22                  February 8, 2008

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

We were able to successfully use the Ohio Schools Alert phone and email system for Friday’s school closing.  If you still are not receiving emails, or did not receive a phone call Friday, please submit that information to the office.

Thanks to all the parents who assisted with or attended our Catholic Schools Week activities.

ABSENCES AND TARDIES

If your child is sick or going to a morning appointment, please call the school office between the hours of 7:30 – 9:00 or leave an overnight message.  Students should bring in a note or doctor’s excuse when they return to school.  Any student accumulating more than 28 days absent can be held back from the next grade.  Also please call the school office if you have moved or changed your telephone number of email address.

DIOCESAN TUITION ASSISTANCE

Information regarding FACTS Tuition Assistance can be picked up in the school office.  Families with students going into grades K-8 are eligible.

Sunday, February 17th is the next skating party at Skate America, Grove City from 4:30 – 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are $3.00 at school and $4.00 at the door (skate rental in extra).  If you buy a pre-sale ticket for $3.00 you may dress down free of charge on Friday, February 15th.  If you do not wish to buy a ticket you can still dress down by paying $2.00 on Friday, February 15th.  Skating tickets go on sale Monday, February 11th at school.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHY BEE CHAMPION

Congratulations to Jill Schwendenmann for winning the school competition in the National Geographic Society’s Geography Bee.  Jill recently took a State Exam to see if she can qualify for the State Finals in April.  Also congratulations to John Barnett – runner-up, and  Jon Thomas, Eddie O’Brien and Josh Puccetti who tied for 3rd place.  Other finalists included Jordan Handley, Rebecca Townsend, Erica Logsdon, Tyler Bocook and Beth Cline.  All of these students will be recognized at the next All-School Assembly.

MARKET DAY

There is still time to place an order for this month’s Market Day sale.  The deadline to place an order is Tuesday, February 13th.  Pick up is Saturday, February 16th from 9:00 – 10:00am in the school gym.  Order forms can be picked up in the school office, or orders can be placed online at www.marketday.com.  We earn extra profit for all cookie dough sold this month.  The profit from this month’s sale will be used to help fund the 8th grade class trip.
