FROM THE PRINCIPAL

We have many enjoyable events planned for students, faculty, and families during Catholic Schools Week.  Events include different lunch themes, dress downs, and assemblies.   I will send out a more detailed schedule, as we get closer to the week of January 27. 

 

Each year the Carol Flanagan Footsteps Fund provides additional assistance for families in need.  This fund is a remembrance for the years of service Mrs. Flanagan gave to our school.  If your family has recently experienced an unforeseen hardship, you may be eligible to receive assistance.  Please notify the office for an application.  Deadline for submitting the application is Friday, February 8th.

 

VOICE MAIL

You will not be able to contact the office by using the Voice Mail until further notice.  Please call the office the if your student will be absent or has a doctor’s appointment first thing in the morning.

 

DIOCESAN TUITION ASSISTANCE

Information regarding FACTS Tuition Assistance can be picked up in the school office.  Families with students going into grades K-8 are eligible.  A flyer was sent home last week with additional information.

 

TUITION AND FEES

As we are approaching registration for the 2008-2009 school year please contact the office regarding outstanding fees or tuition.  If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Graham in the office.

 

SCIENCE FAIR

Attention Parents of 7th graders – Papers have been graded and need to be corrected for final judging!  Triboards need to be completed…classroom presentations will begin January 28.  Please check with your child on the date of their classroom presentation.  Our final school judging will be Monday, February 25th in the gym.  Students will be judged throughout the day.  You are welcome to come at 2:00 p.m. that day to see all the projects.  We will present Science Fair ribbons at 2:30.  Almost done!!!  Thank You!  Mrs. Freeman

 

GEOGRAPHY BEE

Congratulations to the following students who were winners in the classroom level of the National Geography Bee.  Jon Thomas, Jill Schwendenmann, John Barnett, Jordan Handley, Rebecca Townsend, Erica Logsdon, Tyler Bocook, Josh Puccetti, Eddie O’Brien and Beth Cline.  These students will now compete for the school championship.  GOOD LUCK!

 

SUB SALE

Order forms for the SMM Athletic Association Super Bowl SUB SALE are due Friday, January 18th.  No money is due at this time.  Delivery is January 31st.

 

MATH TUTORING

Mrs. Krienbrink will now be available to tutor Math at the following times: Grade 4 – Tuesday after school until 3:15; Grade 6 – Thursday after school until 3:15;  Wednesday morning from 7:30 until 7:55 for all other grades.  Space is limited.  Please call the school office for space availability.

 

ART NEWS

The Art Department is in need of paint that adheres to glass (after you paint the glass you put it in the oven to heat it and it permanently adheres to the glass).  If you have any to donate or would like to help purchase some for the art department, it would be much appreciated!  Thank You!  Mrs. Freeman.

 

MARKET DAY

There is still time to place a Market Day order for the month of January.  Market Day offers several healthy meal choices, as well as individually wrapped and quick meals for families on the go.  The deadline to place an order is Tuesday, January 15th.  Turn in order forms to the school or order online at www.marketday.com.  Pick up is Saturday, January 19th from 9 – 10 am in the school gym.

 

SMM SUNDAY SUPPER

Please join the SMM family for Sunday Supper on January 27 from 1:30 until 5:00 in the Church Hall.  The menu will include Homemade Chicken and Noodles, Mashed Potatoes, Seasoned Green Beans, Applesauce, Roll & Butter, Beverage and Dessert.  Cost is $7.00 adults 12 & over, $6.00 Senior Citizens, $4.00 Children 5 – 11. Children under 5 are free.  Take out is available.  Reservation sign-up sheets are located in the gathering space after weekend Masses or call the Rectory Office at 274-1121.  Please make reservations by January 20th.

 

MEMORIAL BRICK GARDEN

The Saint Mary Magdalene Memorial Brick Garden is a wonderful way to celebrate and honor past, present and future members of our parish and school community.  Each brick can contain three lines with each line containing thirteen characters.  The cost for each brick is $50.00 or two for $75.00.  You can obtain an order form at the display in the church gathering space, online at www.saintmarymag.org or in the school office.  Please contact Meg Cline at 853-3067 with any questions.
