SAINT MARY MAGDALENE NEWSLETTER

Issue #14                November 30, 2007

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

As snowy weather approaches, I have some news regarding snow day or emergency closings. We have found a company that will provide us with a service to notify families via email, phone, and text messages. We will be sending a form home for you to provide us with contact information. This should eliminate questions and doubts, and expedite the notification process. Special thanks to Home and School for agreeing to pay for this service.

MARKET DAY

Thanks to everyone who placed a Market Day order or donated a pie to needy families last month.  54 pies were donated to charity, and the 6th grade class earned $1069.82 to help offset the cost of their trip to Lutheran Memorial camp.  The deadline to place an order for the December sale is Tuesday, December 4th.  Order forms may be turned in to the school office of placed on line as www.marketday.com  Order pickup is Saturday, December 8th from 9 – 10 a.m. in the gym.  We receive extra profit for all cookie dough sold this month.  Stock up now for your holiday baking!

CHRISTMAS COOKIE SALE

December 8th & 9th is the date for the annual Garden Club Cookie Sale.  Once again we are asking all Parishioners, Parents and Friends of St. Mary Magdalene Church and School to help us with our annual fundraiser.  Warm up your ovens, be creative and bake your favorite fancy, decorated Christmas cookies to donate for our sale.  Please deliver cookies in a non-returnable container such as a gift box or paper plate in a zip lock bag.  Cookies can be dropped off on Friday December 7th at the church office from 9:00 – 3:00 or at the school office during school hours.

SNOW, SNOW, SNOW

Winter is coming and that means snow!  We need lots of volunteers for snow removal around the church. Please call Amy Happ at 279-3553 to put your name on the list.  The more people that volunteer, the easier the job.  Thank you!

HOLIDAY RAFFLE

The 8th Grade Class is raffling off a trip for 2 to Las Vegas including air transportation, hotel, and $100 spending money.  Numerous other prizes will be awarded as well.  Tickets are $10 each and available from 8th graders, the school office and rectory.  Drawing is December 19th.  Ticket order forms were sent home earlier this week with students.

MEMORIAL BRICK GARDEN

The Saint Mary Magdalene Memorial Brick Garden is a wonderful way to celebrate and honor past, present and future members of our parish and school community.  Each brick can contain three lines with each line containing thirteen characters.  The cost for each brick is $50.00 or two for $75.00.  You can obtain an order form at the display in the church gathering space, online at www.saintmarymag.org or in the school office.  Please contact Meg Cline at 853-3067 with any questions.

COAT DRIVE

SMM 8th annual Coat Drive will be held this year from October 29 – December 14.  Share the gift of warmth this winter.  Please bring clean, “gently used” or new children and adult winter coats, hats and gloves to the drop box located at the front school door.  All donations will be delivered to the West Side Free Store and distributed to the less fortunate.  There is a great need for these items this winter.  Please ask friends and family for donations.  If you have any questions, please call Sandy Bonneville, 875-5669.
