(Happy Birthday, Miss Brock!)
As you may have seen, there has again been inappropriate conduct taking place at the Hilltop Library. Many of our families have students go there after school for a later pick up. If you have done this, please talk to your child about "stranger danger" or find an alternate spot. Hopefully, the library will address this and take appropriate safety measures.
The 8th Grade class is sponsoring a canned good, nonperishable Food Drive November 14 – 18 to assist needy parish and Westside families. Thank you for your support.
14 Candidates spoke to the SMM Social Studies Middles School classes the past 2 weeks. The students also registered and voted on Election Day. During this valuable life-learning experience, the students were very engaged and asked great questions representing out school very well.
SMM’s fall Book Fair will be next week, November 16th and 17th. Fliers will be sent home on Monday with some of the items that will be on sale at the fair. Last spring we initiated the Book Fair online. This will again be available to parents, grandparents, etc. who would like to shop the Book Fair from November 16th until November 23rd. This is also a great way for aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc. ;) to shop for Christmas gifts. The online Book Fair is available at www.scholastic.com/schoolbookfairs.
Parents and Students: Our Student Council Bake Sale raised $125.18 for the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research! Thank you for your cooperation. This money was given in honor of Mrs. Vivian Dweh, Jamal Sommers’ mother, who recently passed away.
For Advent, we have decided to take two ornaments from the Giving Tree, one boy and one girl (a toddler and a middle-school aged child).
